U.S. Customs & Border Protection announced an In-Transit Pilot project will start no earlier than May 27th, 2016 and will run for approximately six months. The project will involve In-Transit moves between Port Huron Michigan, Pembina North Dakota and Blaine Washington. Participation will be limited to 9 C-TPAT carriers, will allow carriers to value the goods at $2.00 a pound and will not require them to provide the 6 digit Harmonized Tariff Code but will be required to provide a precise cargo description.
